We found a secret room in the church. It was all very exciting. We noticed an extra space when we were looking through some of the outside windows and saw that the room windows and walls didn’t match. We researched and saw the room had been sealed up. Our long term members couldn’t recall what was in there much less why it had been sealed up. So the mystery deepened leading to even more excitement. What is in the room? Was it sealed for a reason? Is there some long lost church records in there? Or is there something else in there?
We decided it was probably too much to ask Geraldo Rivera to come over and open the room like a “Secret Vault of Al Capone” episode or something. However, the prospect of what could be was both exciting and frightening. Who knew what lurked in this secret room? So I brought in a drywall saw and made a nice big opening. What was there? Nothing. The “room” was actually about 12 inches deep, so it was an illusion. Often when there is an unknown, fear and excitement will set in. This applies to unknown rooms and to unknown futures. As this congregation stands at the point in which it will launch into a new future, there is both fear and excitement. What will happen? What direction will we go? The answers to these questions will be difficult to determine. However, we will need to answer them in order to proceed into the church’s future. So think about what you believe should be next. What is God calling you to do? Comments are closed.
