Bev Bushnell, Chair
Being the wife of a late Disciples minister for many years, Bev has served in numerous capacities in the church, mostly with the youth and as an Adult Sunday School Teacher. She became a member of Countryside in 1995 where she has been an Elder, Adult Ministries Chair, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Class Officer and presently on the Board of Directors. Before retiring, Bev worked as Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools, Top Assistant to the Mayor and served as Assistant Election Commissioner. She dabbles in art as evidenced by her annual Christmas cards, as well as the communion painting in the narthex at Countryside.
Jim has been a member of the church since 1950 when his family moved to Countryside (with a few years off for college and the Air Force). He is an architect (semi-retired) and he and his wife Pegge live in Prairie Village where he serves as a member of the City Planning Commission. They belong to the Trinity Class and generally attend the 11:00 service. Jim has served in many capacities at the church including Board Chair, Trustee, Elder, Deacon, Youth Group Sponsor, Sunday School Teacher, and Personnel Chair. He is currently Facilities Chair.
Mike has been a member of Countryside since 1966. He was married to his wife, Kathy, at the church in 1976. Mike has owned his own business since 1984, a pre-owned car business in Independence, Missouri. Three children and four grandchildren keep the McCormick’s busy. Mike and Kathy attend the 8:45 service.
Carroll is a new member of the church. She came to Countryside one year ago after being a member at Westwood Christian Church for more than 20 years. She retired from Metropolitan Community College after serving 44 years. Carroll volunteers every day at T.A. Edison Elementary School in Kansas City, KS. She is the newsletter editor for the Pilot Club, an international service organization meeting at the church monthly. She is a precinct committeewoman for her ward and is active in Democratic politics in Wyandotte County, KS. She is a Board Member of Leadership 2000 and the Rosedale Development Association. She plays in the handbell choir, sings in the Chancel Choir and serves as a Lector.
Barbara and her husband, Dale, have been members of Countyside for over 20 years. Barbara grew up in the Christian Church, first at the old Jackson Avenue Church and then at Emerson Park, where she and Dale were members for 23 years. They raised three children and always took an active role in their church. She has been a Trustee, Deacon, served on several committees, choir member at Emerson Park, and active in Sunday School (usually planning fun and service activities for the group). Now that she is retired, she especially enjoys the service groups at Countryside, i.e., the Food Kitchen, Prayer Quilters Group, Back Snack Program, IHN and you might even find her in the sanctuary straightening and restocking the pews for the next Sunday service.
Lynn grew up in Topeka, KS and moved to the Kansas City area in 1962. He is married to Carleen, has two sons, one daughter, five grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. He was a member of Westwood Christian Church for 49 years until it closed, then joined Countryside where he enjoys teaching and playing the harmonica.
